In 1929, an act passed that allows women to be recognized as "persons." This meant that they not can have a greater sense of self worth socially. This also allows women to now be able to be appointed to the senate.

Women on the home front
Women entered the workforce because the men were away. A woman's job as a caretaker became a lot more important because they were encouraged to take on the roles that were normally a man's job. The woman earned more rights as WW1 progressed. "Many women gained some financial independence and sense of social worth through their WWI labor force participation."

The Conscription Crisis
Prime Minister Borden was pushing for conscription. The majority of the French-Canadians were against conscription, while the majority of the English-Canadians were for it. Because of his votes from women, Borden won the election, and passed the act for conscription.

Katherine MacDonald and Nurses Overseas
Women were not allowed to enlist as soldiers, sailors, or pilots in World War I. Their role in the military was quite limited.
