    Move to Detroit
    The Pistons, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, moved to Detroit, which had lost two previous teams. They replaced the Gems which moved to be the present day Lakers, and the Falcons who folded. It was the new home of the much larger city.

    Pistons get moved into the Eastern division with their expansion, which lead to a better win/loss record at 40-42 with new guard Dave Bing and less road trips to CA

    Zollner sold the team to Bill Davidson in '74, who remained the owner until his death in March of 2009. Davidson moved them out of inner city Detroit to Pontiac.
