Helenski Agreement
Representatives from Canada, the United States, and 33 other European countries met in Helenski after World War 2 to recognize that East Germany deserved human rights such as freedom of speech. -
SPACE
In July of 1975 the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project was conducted as the first international space mission. This mission involved three American Astronauts and two Russian cosmonauts. -
SALT 2
SALT 2 was presented to Senate by President Carter, but opposition delayed ratification. -
Soviets strike again.
After the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, essentially ending the Detente, President Carter boycotted US athletes from competeting in the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. Carter then started aiding Pakistan and upped the defense budget.
In the next elction Ronald Reagan was elected and conferences of SALT 2 were abandoned.
