Fredonian Rebellion
The Fredonian Rebellion was the first attempt by Anglo American settlers in Texas to leave Mexico. Empresario, Haden Edwards declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Fredonia near Nacogdoches. -
Mier y Teran Report
The Mexican government sent Mier y Teran to Texas to observe the Anglo settler. He warned the government that they were not fulfilling their promise and that they might rebel against them. -
Decree of April 6, 1830
The Law of April 6, 1830, was issued because of the Mier y Teran Report to prevent the U.S. from taking Texas from Mexico. Immigration from the U.S. began to rapidly increase. -
Convention of 1832
The Convention of 1832 was the first ever gathering of colonists in Mexican Texas. -
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
The Turtle Bayou Resolutions were signed by the settlers during the Anahuac Disturbances. This played a vital role in the creation of the Republic of Fredonia. -
