Intro to characters
Jarred attempts to climb over the palace wall and head to the majestic city of Del. He is then caught by his old nursemaid Min. Then Endon arrives and talks to Jarred. He is the Prince of Deltora and grew up with Jarred. We also find out from this event that there is only one person permitted to leave the walls of the palace, an old man who takes the trash out of the palace. Prandine is the chief advisor to the King, who appears to be evil. He believes that Jarred is a nuisance. -
King and Queen Die
Endon's mother, the queen, dies unexpectedly from and unknown cause. Jared decides to help Endon take his mind off of things by forging a sword. Shortly thereafter, Endon's father, the King, dies. A coronation ceremony is then held for Endon to become King. -
The Belt of Deltora
After seeing the belt be put on Endon at the coronation ceremony, Jarred becomes curious as to the history behind it. The belt is only allowed to be worn for a short time. He goes to the library only to find a book by it falling from a high shelf and hitting him on the head. The belt was forged by a great blacksmith who never took the belt off because it wards off the shadow lord and his army. Jarred, with this information, rushes to Endon to explain why he should be wearing the belt. -
Banishment
As Jarred tries to explain the story of belt to Endon, Prandine intervenes. He tells Endon that Jarred killed his parents. This makes Endon banish Jarred. Jarred then runs off to escape the gaurds of the castle who are now chasing him. -
Death of Min
Jarred left a note for Endon in a secret code that only they share then escapes by riding off in the wagon that carries out the trash. As it turns out, the majestic City of Del is a town full of poverty and trash. 7 years later, Min Finds the note and gives it to Endon who doesn't immediately read it. Then Min is killed. This makes Endon read the note because he realized that Prandine is the one to killed min. It instructs Endron to shoot an arrow high in the tree should he need help. -
Shadow Lord Stikes
Because Endon had not worn the belt, and because his predecessors had also neglected to do so, the Shadow lord and his army were able to grow strong enough to invade the Palace of Del. Endron shoots an arrow into the tree to signal for Jarred who has spent the past seven years living in the City of Del. -
The return of Jared
Jarred, while living in the City of Del, looked at the tree everyday to see if his old friend ever needed any help. Since Endon had just shot the arrow, that day Jarred was able to see the glimmer from it and rushed to find that the Shadow lord had Invaded. Jarred rescues Endon. Endon had just lost all of the 7 gems found on the Belt of Deltora. Endon's wife pushes Prandine out the window. Now Jarred and Endon talk about the circumstances they are in. -
The quest begins
After the loss of the 7 gems, the army of the Shadow lord rules the land of Del. Jarred and Eldon live in the Slums and decide to wait until the time is right to begin the quest for the seven gems. It ends up that Jarred's sun, Leif, is the one who will be going on the Adventure, because Jarred became to old waiting for the best time to set out on the quest.
