Stamp Act
It was an act on Great Britain Parliament which set a direct tax on British colonies in America. It led to DOL because this upset people that they did not have a say in this tax. -
Boston Massacure
was a confrontation where the British soldiers shot and killed multiple people while being harassed by a mob in Boston. This led to the DOC because this was a realization that rules needed to be put in place to keep situations like this from happening. -
Boston Tea Party
Was a political protest because the colonist did not want to have to pay taxes on British tea. They cause of the Boston tea party was the intolerable act which was harsh and cruel. -
Intolerable act
These were laws set after the boston tea party, were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in the Tea Party. There were 5 acts. -
1st continental congress
After parliament created new laws to punish the colonist. Delegates from all colonies except Georgia came together to discuss matters. They wrote a Declaration of Rights to King George. They wanted to stop trade with England until the laws were removed. -
Battle Of Lexington and Concord
These were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. The battles happened because the British commander in Boston heard about supplies of powder and weapons the Patriots had in the towns of Lexington and Concord. -
2nd Continental congress
Involving United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. They met at Congress Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They made George Washington general of the army. Organized Continental army to fight. -
Declaration of Independece
An official act taken by all 13 colonies declaring independence from British rule. It stresses that people have rights that cannot be taken away. -
