  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre is when a provoked red coat shoots into a crowd of unarmed colonists and caused four casualties. The Boston Massacre was important because it showed the British in a bad light and was the first event leading to the revolution.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest against British taxes on the colonist. "over one hundred American colonists dressed as Native Americans boarded three merchant ships in Boston Harbor and dumped 342 chests of tea... into the water." This is important because it was organized by the Sons of Liberty an important group to the revolution and England punishes the colonies with more laws known as the "Intolerable Acts"

  • Give me Liberty or Give me Death

    Give me Liberty or Give me Death is a popular speech from Patrick Henery to his Virginian comrades saying that the war is inevitable and he rather die than be controlled by the unfair British rule. This is important because this speech was a battle cry and encouraged all the colonies to stand as one.

    Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine and lays out a plan to have an independent government not controlled by a birthed ruler and is important because it said to influence heavily the Declaration of Independence.
  • Declaration of Indepence

    The Declaration of Independence is important because it says that the United States of America isn't part of Britain and says "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." This is why we all have the same rights today in the United States.
