1977 - VHS Players
The first version of "on demand" viewing experiences. The VHS players became the first device allowing you audiences to choose what they wanted to watch in the comfort of their own home. Not quite the Netflix or Hulu subscriptions, but this device also defines the era it existed on and paved the way to on demand TV we know today. -
1979 - Sony's Walkman
The walkman is now a very Era defining device that paved the way to how we would listen to music in the modern age. A phone and ear buds do what the Walkman did first on a much more comfortable level. It was the first way to listen to music while walking on the street forcing others to listen to your particular taste in music/radio stations. -
1981 - Polaroid Sun AF660
Polaroid releases classic design of camera that is still auctioned to this day. It used sensors to be able to tell how far an object was and was able to auto focus. -
1981 - NES
The Nintendo Entertainment System was out as one of the first home console videogame systems and helped get the gaming industry out of a slump in the early 1800's. Many remember this as the beginning of an ERA, as Mario bros. became a staple in gaming history and is still a widely popular franchise to this day. -
1989 - Game Boy
Nintendo releases the device that popularized handheld gaming, the Game Boy. Gaming at home was fun but kids with this device were able to game while their parents had to take them out for errands, during car rides. Nintendo seems to like to evolve old ideas, looking at the Switch now they have combined the power of handheld and at home console into one, and you could say the game boy started it all!
