Arlington National Cemetery
For the first day in DC we visited the Arlington National Cemetery. The cemetery is 624 acres and is where many people who served in wars are buried. It is also the burial place of the Kennedy's. We even got to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. It is a great place for kids to learn about the cemetery and how important it is to Americans. -
National Spy Museum
One of the many musems we visited was the Spy Museum. The Spy Museum was where we learned about many different spies. We learned about spies during the World Wars and many other wars. We saw what devices they used to get their information and the disguises they wore. -

Capitol Building tour
On the second day in DC we got the opprotunity to take a tour of the Capitol Building. The tour lasted about an hour and we got to explore parts of the building. We learned about the history of the building and how it came to be. The Capitol is the meeting place of the U.S Congress -
National Air and Space Museum
One of the many Smithsonian museums we visited was the Air and Space Museum. There, we learned about many historic aircraft and spacecraft in the world. -
Natural History Museum
Another Smithsonian museum we visited was the Natural History Museum. We saw many fossils of ancient animals and learned about ancient people. It contained many exhibits throughout the museum. We even got to see the famous Hope Diamond, which is one of the most expensive diamonds in the world and is said to be cursed because anyone who owned the diamond died. -
Vietnam Memorial
Another monument we visited was the Vietnam Veterans memorial. Everyone got to walk through it and see all the names of the soldiers who fought in the war. It was great for the kids to learn about something so important to Americans. -
Washington Monument
At the Lincoln Memorial, we saw the great view of the Washington Monument. It looked very pretty when it was all light up that night, and you can also see the water reflecting off of it. The kids enjoyed it -
Iwo Jima
Another monument we visited was Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was a battle that the Americans won. After 1 month of fighting, they stole it from Japanese fighters. -
World War 2 Memorial
The last monument we visited after the walking tour was the WW2 memorial. It is dedicated to all the civilians and soldiers who fought in it. The surrounding wall names all 50 states who took part in the war effort. -
Vietnam Memorial for the women
At the Vietman Memorial, there was a dedication for the women in Vietnam. Many of the women were nurses in the war, some even fought in the war too. Many women took part in the Vietnam War. -
National museum of Human History
At the Human History we learned about human history. We learned about of how the human species evolved over time and how we came to our form today. -
Martin Luther King Monument
Later in the day, we took a walking tour of the monuments in DC. One of the many monuments we visited was the Martin Luther King Monument. Carved in stone is Martin Luther King. The stone is half carved because only half of his work was done. In the surrounding wall is quotes from various people during that time. -
Smithsonian Museum
At the History museum, there was a big exhibit of the famous toys and figures. We got to see original pieces from famous people. An example would be that we saw President Lincoln's hat, and many other famous things that very famous people onced owned -
Newseum
On the last day before we left DC, we visited the Newseum. In the Newseum we saw many exhibits of famous news articals througout the U.S. Some of the exhibits we visited were the Jackie Kennedy exhibit, the 9/11 exhibit and the mafia exhibit which was about many gangsters in the 1920's and '30's. It was a great way for kids to learn about how journalism came to be. -
White House
We also got to see the back enterance of the White House. We got to take a photo too. Everyone one got to see how cool the White House looked and how big it really was. It was great for everyone to see the big house where our nation's president lives!
