Charles Darwin is beginning his journey around the coast of South America. His Journey will last for about 5 years. -
Cape Verde Islands
After a year, the Beagle has made it to Cape Verde Islands. Darwin has just made some of his first observations. -
Salvador, Brazil
Darwin's next stop is Salvador, Brazil. There he will explore Brazilian rain-forests. -
Punta Alta, Argentina
Darwin discovers giant fossils at Punta Alta, Argentina. -
Tierra del Furgo, Argentina
The Captain of the Beagle Voyage tries to convert the natives to Christians, but it doesn't work out. -
Equator Crossing
In the month of February the Beagle Voyage crosses over the equator. -
Falkland Islands
Darwin discovers more fossils in rocks at this stop and he also see's brachiopods. -
Rio Negro, Argentina
Darwin explores Pampas. This is an area that has locals known as the "gauchos". The land consist of fertile lowland areas. -
Chiloé Island, Chile
Here, Darwin experiences an earthquake first hand by Mount Osorno. He believes that the earthquakes have been degrading the island for many years. -
Galapagos Islands
Here, Darwin will make many observations on different plants and animals. Some include finches, iguana, and tortoises. -
Cocos Islands
The Cocos Islands are where Darwin will study some coral reefs that inhabit the islands. -
Bahia and Pernambuco, South America
Darwin discovers more animals here on his way home. -
Cape Town, South Africa
It is here that Darwin observes the Table Mountain of Cape Town, South Africa. -
Sydney, Austraila
Darwin observes here that there are very different mammals here. -
Mauritius
Darwin observes the landscape of Mauritius. He notices that the plain is uncultivated and is covered in a lot of black lava. -
Falmouth, England
Darwin ends his journey and returns home from his long quest.
