  • Beagle Voyage (Start)

    In April-August of 1831, Darwin starts planning a trip to the canary islands, of the coast of Africa. His plans fell trough when one of his companions unexpectedly dies
  • An Unexpected Letter

    In late August of 1831, Darwin's Cambridge mentor sends him a letter saying he recommended him for a two year voyage around the world.
  • To go or Not to go is the question

    in September of 1831, it came known to Darwin that the captain had given the spot to a good friend. Only if that fell trough would Darwin be able to go. After confronting the captain, Darwin finds out that he was worried he wouldn't be able to handle the trip. after the captain test him, Darwin is given the all clear and his on the ship for the voyage
  • The Voyage Begins

    in October-December, Darwin heads to the port of Plymouth and gets settled onto the beagle. though at the time storms had stalled the start of the voyage. The Beagle official sets off on December 27, 1831.
  • The Beginning of Darwin's Theory

    The beagle lands on the volcanic of St. Jago. Here Darwin witnesses a layer of sea shells and coral 30 feet above see level. the area looked as if it was underwater at one point.
  • To build on Our Research

    From March-June, Darwin continues to explore the Rain forest and takes notes on the diversity and differences of the environment and animals.
  • Fossils

    in the summer of 1833, Darwin was riding through the plains with a group of Argentine cowboys. after stopping for the night, Darwin went in search of fossils. within several weeks, Darwin had found the remains of nine different colossal animals and countless other bones.
  • Earthquake!!!

    while lying on a forest floor in Valdivia, Darwin feels the ground under him shake. It wasn't till he traveled to the nearest town that he realized he just experienced his first earthquake.
  • The Galapagos

    Upon arriving, Darwin and the captain shared the same, grim first impression. after staying for awhile and studying the environment they left. It wasn't until years after their visit that Darwin would have and epiphany about evolution.
  • Australia

    in January, while trekking through the outback, Darwin came across all sorts of animals. while there he encountered one of the weirdest animals he had ever seen, a webbed foot, duck billed platypus.
  • The End

    as the sight of Falmouth, England comes into view, Darwin is thrilled to see the end of the voyage.
