    Wilmont Proviso
    David Wilmont introduced this proviso in this date to try to stop slavery in the territories and one now known as the Mexican Cession, and future territories. He introduced this first on the listed date in plans to resolve the Mexican-American War. It passed in the House of Reps. but failed in the Senate. He also tried to get it apart of the Treaty of Guadelupe Hildago later in 1848 and also failed.

    Desicion on wheather to make new territories free or slave stetes. Henery Clay was asked to write this compromise, and later disputes came up upon distraction. During this time the Fugitive-Slave Act was also passed. Whiched stated that slaves found in the north were to be returned to the south.
