    Edward Seguin
    Seguin is a french medical doctor, who developed techniques for experimental learning using movement and music. He believed that connections between the sensory muscles and intellecutal training must be made.

    Rudolf Steiner
    Steiner developed a movement practice called Eurythmy that continues to be taught today. Described as visual speech because it makes visible the formative processes which are engaged before speech aor music actually sounds.

    Emile Jaques-Dalcroze
    Jaques-Dalroze is a wwiss composer and musician, realized the significance of children moving to experience music. His metho of having students move around while they feel their music rhythms is still used today.

    Isadora Duncun
    Isadora Duncan was born May 26th 1877, although it is said she was born on the same date of the year 1878. She started teaching movement when she was 6 and by the time she was 10 her clases grew large. She opened schools that integrated dance with other types of learning. First recital in 1898.

    Loie Fuller
    Fuller started experimenting with the effects of gs lighting on her silk costume. She developed a natural movement with improvisation techniques that connected to her silk costume and lighting experiment. She also was the first to develop chemical mixes as gels and slides for lighting.

    Doris is known for her fall and recovery technique. She studied at the Denisshawn school in LA. She formed the Humphrey-Weidman studio and company in New York.

    Started studying at DenisShawn, Over the next seven years she did a performance specifically made for her, she evolved as a student and eventually became a educator as well. Developed the Contrast and Release, tension and relaxation.

    Most highly regarded Modern Dancer and Choreograper in Central Europe. Enjoyed non- Western instrumentaion. used silence and ecstatic spinning in her choreography. Interested in human emotions, relationships, and superstitions.

    Been a a huge part of Modern Dance since the 1960's. Attended many school including the school of American Ballet. He dance with Martha Graham from 1939-1945. Started presenting his own choreography in the 1940's. I n1953 he formed the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Used Music, design, and dance.

    Artisitc Director Anne Green Gilbert founded the Creative Dance Center. She wanted to create a school that helped children develop dancer technique and skills, and the creative possibilities. The first location was in Russia. They have a structured lesson plan that allows the children to be brain ready, and willing to learn.
