DECADE OF THE 30
In the 1930s, the jitterbug was prevalent, first becoming popular in the US, and then being exported by US soldiers during World War II.
The jitterbug, like the charleston, was based on an African-American dance: the lindy-hop. The couples did energetic and impromptu steps and pirouettes that included men lifting women. -
DECADE OF THE 1940
In the forties, the "Big Band" appeared. These are great orchestras that develop swing, giving it more joy and liveliness, and making it more danceable. These orchestras had spectacular success in the 1930s, and they were the ones that would take swing to its maximum splendor. -
DECADE OF THE 1950
During this time it was common to see individual, couple or group dances. for example rock and roll and stroll -
DECADE OF THE 1960
It is without a doubt the decade of the Twist, which was initially a dance that was considered vulgar and obscene. Its origin came from an African-American style, marking a clear movement of the hips. -
DECADE OF 70'S
In these years, disco music stands out clearly. On the dance floor, the most common thing was to listen to this type of music that emerged as a combination of genres such as soul and funk, and with some with Latin touches. -
THE 80'S
Throughout this decade Heavy Metal bands took center stage, so the dance focused on sudden movements of the head, following the rhythm of the music of this style. On the other hand, a very different style that also became very important during these years is the Lambada, with a very sensual character and Latin origins. -
THE 90'S
This decade brought with it a much more commercial and diverse style, where Hip-Hop above all made the great leap, a style of music that already existed, but which took on great prominence during these years. -
YEAR 2000 ONWARDS
From now on there have been countless styles of dance and types of music, throughout these years the era of reggeaton has been created. Thanks to the DJs, styles of music such as dance music and house have emerged, typical of discos and bars, in which the usual thing is to dance individually.
