    Bolshevik Revolution

    Widespread corruption and inefficiency within the czarist imperial government, growing dissatisfaction among peasants, workers, and soldiers, the monarchy's level of control over the Russian Orthodox Church. The revolution took place in Russia, it involved Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trosky.

    The Rise of the Soviet Union

    The interim government was toppled, the Soviets seized power, and Russia later terminated the Triple Entente military alliance with France and Britain. The countries that were involved were Russia, Moldova, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, this took place in Russia.

    The Cold War

    An ideological and political rivalry between the United States and the USSR. The states involved were the United States and its allies, the Soviet Union, and the satellite states. The war was moving and it had been through United States, Soviet Union, Vietnam, Europe, Cuba, Greece, Latin America, South America, Korea, and East Asia.

    Arms Race and Space Race

    World War II had demonstrated to the World that rocket technology would drive modern warfare, and as the U.S. and Russia locked themselves in a race to have the most super technology. The United States was involved including the Soviet Union. It was a competition that spanned across various locations including research facilities, military bases and launch sites in both countries.

    The Fall of the Soviet Union

    Gorbachev’s decision allow elections with a multi-party system and create a presidency for the Soviet Union began a slow process of democratization that eventually destabilized Communist control and contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union. This involved President Boris Yeltsin of Russia, President Kravchuk of Ukraine, and Chairman Shushkevich of Belarus. This had taken place in Russia.

    Ukrainian Independence

    After the Bolsheviks seized control in immense, troubled Russia in November 1917 and moved toward negotiating peace with Central Powers, the former Russian state of Ukraine then declared its total independence. This only included the Ukrainians but it took place in Eastern Ukraine, Republic of Crimea, Autonomous and Republic of Crimea. Ukraine still has its independence till this day and celebrates it on the 24th of August

    Vladmir Putin

    Putin was part of the militaryy and was very respected, was nominated to be put into governmental postions. In the early 2000's they had elected him to be president and in 2004 he had become president again and till now he has managed to gather power to stay as president.

    Russia Annexes Crimea

    Annexing Crimea allowed Russia to gain control of vital energy assets. Crimea has great value geographically because of the access to the Black Sea and it has strategic value to Russia. An attempt to make any Western integration with Ukraine much less attractive.

    Russo-Ukrainian Conflict

    Ukraine supported pro-Russian separatists fighting the Ukrainian military in the Donbas war. The first eight years of conflict also included naval incidents, cyberwarfare, and heightened political tensions. In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and began occupying more of the country.
