    Late 90s after the success of said band, entertainment agencies started recruiting the youth, specifically young performers in demand for talent.

    The late 2000s saw the boom of Kpop worldwide, but it was more popular in Asian countries at the time. With more people having television and other sources of entertainment and media this is one of the reasons why it got popularized worldwide. With new groups coming from S.M entertainment, it got popular.

    Gangnam style by PSY became so popular it had billions of views and many of my peers at the time knew of it. It became a turning point for KPOP as it popularized it globally, it also became very popular as YouTube was very popular at the time as well, with YouTube getting many more viewers and users, the correlation of said viewers and video views is apparent. Many more people got into KPOP at the same time and is the origin of many youth's love for kpop.

    KPOP groups such as Blackpink, BTS, and EXO widened their fanbases internationally by including English, Chinese, and Japanese versions of songs. The youth in the west are also fans with their respective fandoms, calling themselves "stans". With many attending kpop concerts held in North America. Their associated agencies promoted their presence by taking advantage of social media.

    BTS was contributing $3.5 billion annually to the Korean economy. Even during the pandemic BTS drove a 58% increase in HYBE's revenue, a Korean international entertainment company. With people being interested and curious about the country, the tourism industry is at an all time high. In a way BTS elevated Korea's culture on to the world stage with their presence.

    In the latest years, KPOP has been in mass media regardless of their respective agencies help, you can see it on different social medias with their fandoms posting them and being excited for new albums, etc. Kpop has also inspired many teenagers to create art, fan fictions and make remixes of their favourite songs. The Korean government has also appointed EXO as honoury ambassadors of the country. The youth has also been fixated on different forms of Korean culture, Food, Kdramas, etc.
