Another American U-2 flying over Alaska gets close to Soviet airspace and was almost shot down. The same day Kennedy sends a letter to the Soviet Union that says the United States will not invade Cuba if the Soviet Union takes the missiles out of Cuba. -
End of the 13 days
Nikita Khrushchev announces that he will remove the missiles from Cuba. -
United States removes missiles
The United States agreed to remove their missiles from Turkey if the missiles in Cuba were removed. Both nations accepted and missile sites in Cuba and Turkey were both removed.
