Fidel Castro assumed power of Cuba after the Cuban Revolution. He lead a guerilla war against Batista, who was the former leader of Cuba. Batista was a dictator who was alligned with the U.S. He was forced into hiding after the war. Castro became the commander in Chief of Cuba and shortly after he became the Prime Minister. This alarmed the U.S. and they attempted to assasinate him however their attempts were unsuccessful. -
