  • Pre constrution era

    In 1867 canada becomes a confederation. The need for a railway is needed and it has been recognnized to connect Brithish columbia with the other eastern provices.
  • construction era

    In 1880 the constrution started. The canadian pacific railway company was officially a company incorprated by under the leader ship of sir john A macdonald. But they had one problem and that was finding labour, then they went to china. They knew that the chinese needed money so they took that opportunity and ran with it.
  • challenges

    Through the time of 1881, they faced a lot of challenges. One of them was financial difficulties. Also what didn't help was they had to go through the rocky mountains and there was a lot of sacrifice. That leaded to labour shortages.
  • End of construction era

    On november 7 of 1885, the CPR was completed, the last spike was driven in Craigellachie by Donald Smith, Lord Strathcona in british columbia. This marks the first transcontinental railway.
  • After construction era

    in 1886, the railway was open to the public. This was one of the best things to travle on at the time. The CPR quickly becomes the vital link for goods and people, this boosted the economy.
