the criminal justice act abolished servitudee hard labor. it also specified how inmates can be treated and punished. prisons where still in the center of it and the main place to put prisoners. -
1993
this is when the prison system become an agency of the government. this allows there to be more operational matters while the government still handles the overall policy making. this has led and impacted the correctional system we have today.
