Hitler Takes Power
On this day, Hitler becomes the chancellor in Nazi Germany. After the Reich fire, he becomes sole leader, "Fuehrer", and takes total control over Germany. -

Germany and Italy sign an agreement of peace and cooperation. They become known as the Axis Powers. -

FDR dies and Truman takes his spot. Truman finishes the war and makes the decision later on to drop the bombs. -
Germany Surrenders
Allied forces force Hitler to surrender. After 6 years of war, the European half of the worl war is over, however, Japan still has not surrendered. -
Hiroshima
On August 6, the US dropped the first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. 135,000 thousand were killed. Three days later, on August 9, a second bomb was dropped on Nagaski, killing another 50,000. This brought the war to a swift conclusion. -
