FRIEDRICH WILHELM FROEBEL
Friedrich Wilhelm Froebel (October 20, 1859 - June 21, 1852). Friedrich Wilhelm Frobel is the founder of kindergarten is identified as "Father Of Kindergarten" devoloped a curriculum and methodology (gifts, occupations, and role of play, rhymes and songs etc.). Friedrich also wrote Mother's Songs, Games, and Stories. -
MARTIN LUTHER
Martin Luther (November 10,1483 - February 18,1546). Martin Luther translated the Bible from Latin to vernacular language , allowing people to be educated in their own language. He also advocated establishing schools to teach children to read. -
JOHN DEWEY
John Dewey (October 20, 1859 - June 1, 1952). John Dewey contributed to the Progressive Education Movement. John Dewey said the basis of the curriculim should be from children's interest, and also stated to educate children for today - not tomorrow. -

Maria Montessori (August 31, 1870 - May 6,1952). Maria Montessori developed the Montessori Method Philosopohy and Materials. Maria traveled widely to disseminate ideas of her work -
JEAN PIAGET
Jean Piaget (August 9, 1896 - September 16, 1980) Contributed to the Theory Of Cognitive Development Based on Ages and Stages. Jean also stated that mental and physical ativities are important to cognitive development, she also contributed with the Project Approach to learning. -
LEV VYGOTSKY
Lev Vygotsky (November 17, 1896 - June 11, 1934). Lev contributed to Early Childhood Education with the Sociocultural Theroy, which emphasizes the importance fo interpersonal relationships in social and cognitive development. Lev also recognized that communication between teachers and children can act as a means of scaffolding to high levels of learning. -
ERIK ERIKSON
Erik Erikson (June 15, 1902 - May 12, 1994). Erik Erikson contributed to Early Childhood Education wtih the Theory of Psychosocial Development- congnitive development occurs in conjunction with social development. Erik also stated how parents and teachers interact with and care for children helps determine their emotional and cognitive development. -
HOWARD GARDNER
Howard Gardner (June 11, 1943 - ). Howard Gardner contributed to Early Childhood Education with the Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Howard stated that Intellegence is not a single broad ability, but rather a set of abilities. -
UNESCO
UNESCO (United Nation Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization was formed on November 16, 1945). UNESCO has been contributing to Early Childhood Education since 1945 and as recently as 2015. In 2010, UNESCO aimed to Reaffirm ECCE as a right of all children and as the basis for development and promoting global exchange of all good practices. UNESCO also went on to indentify binding contraints toward making the intended equitable expansion of access to quality services.
