New Hampshire adopted a constitution to replace its royal charter. Less than three months later South Carolina followed. -
Agreed on Lee's resolution
Delegates finally agreed on Lees resolution but only after spirited debate for many of the Delegates had serious doubts about the wisdom of a complete seperation from England. -
Adopted the Declaration of Independence
Two days after Lee's resolution was agreed on by the delegates, they adopted the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the reolution of a new nation. -

Articles of Confederation
After the Declaration of Independence the Articles of Confederation went into the new nation. During that time Second Continental Congress fought a war. Raised Armies and a navy, borrowed funds, bought supplies, created money system, and made treaties.
