Declaration of rights and grievances was passed by the stamp act congress. It declared that taxes imposed on British colonists without their formal consent were unconstitutional. It was especially directed towards the stamp act. -
Boston tea party
The Boston tea party was an action taken in response to the tea act which put a tax on the tea. It was passed in 1773 by the British parliament. Colonists actually went on to British ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into the water. -

They met at carpenter’s hall in Philadelphia. It was called in response to the passage of the coercive acts by the British parliament. It was attended by 56 delegates. -

It began with the battle of Lexington and concord. “The shot heard around the world” is a famous quote that was said in the beginning of the war when the first shot was fired. -
2nd Continental congress meets
This took place while the revolutionary war was happening. One question answered was how the colonists were going to meet the military threat of the British? The answer was a continental army. The next question was how would supplies be paid for? The congress authorized the printing of money. -

The article of confederation legally established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and was the first constitution of the United States. There were a total of 48 people who signed the articles of confederation. Not all of the delegates signed on the same day. -
Revolutionary war ends
It was ended effectively in Yorktown Virginia. George Washington forced General Cornwallis to surrender after the siege there. But it didn’t officially end until the treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783. -
Constitutional congress opens
Delegates representing every state except Rhode Island met at Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania state house. The assembly immediately discarded the idea of amending the articles of confederation. They started thinking of new schemes of government. -
Final draft of the constitution is signed
The constitution was signed by 39 of the 55 delegates. It would not become binding until it was ratified by 9 of the 13 states. No delegate from Rhode Island signed the document. Jonathan Dayton was the youngest to sign it at the age of 26. Benjamin franklin was the oldest to sign it at the age of 81.
