It's mission is the same as many others, to conserve the "wild places" on Earth. It works to protect ecological communities and to create a legacy for America's wildlife. -

This organization was founded in 1895 as the New York Zoological Society (NYZS). It was founded by Andrew H. Green, Henry Fairfield Osborn and Bird Grinnell. Theodore Roosevelt was also very involved in the founding of WCS. This organizations currently conserves more than two million square miles of wild places around the world. -
National Wildlife Federation (NWF)
The National Wildlife Federation was founded on February 4th, 1936. It was founded during the North American Wildlife Conference in 1936 by Jay Norwood Darling. This group focuses on why wildlife is important to our ecosystem. Currently, the NWF is focused on matters such as climate change, the bald eagle, the Everglades, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. -
Defenders of Wildlife
Defenders of Wildlife is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1947 in Washington, D.C. It's mission is protect all wildlife in North America. Originally, Defenders of Wildlife was called Defenders of Fur Bearers and it's mission was to help preserve wild animals. Since then, it has broadend it's horizons. -
International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)
The International Fund for Animal Welfare was founded in 1969 by a small group of unnamed people. Currently, it is one of the largest animal welfare and conservation charities in the world. It's primary focus is to protect entire animal populations and preserve habitats. -
International Crane Foundation (ICF)
The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is another non-profit organization who focuses on the study of the 15 species of crane in the world. It's current headquarters are in Baraboo, Wisconsin and it was founded in 1973 by Ron Sauey and George Archibald. -
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society
This is a non-profit organization based in San Juan Island, Washington and was founded in 1977 by Paul Watson. This is a marine conservation organization who's mision is protect ecosystems and marine species, to end the destruction of their habitats, and all around protect marine life. -

This organization is a non-profit founded by famous singer Jimmy Buffett and former U.S. Senator Bob Graham in 1981. This organization focuses on the recovery of the manatee species, which is endangered. -

Oceana was founded in 2001 by many different foundations such as the Turner Foundation and the Oak Foundation. It's concern is to protect the world's oceans. They focus on ocean conservation and to protect and restore the world's oceans through campaigning. -
Panthera Corporation
This is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2006 by Thomas S. Kaplan. It's mission is to conserve the world's 37 species of wild cats. It is a worldwide organization that focuses on the endangered wild cats, such as snow leopards, tigers and jaguars. -
Conservation International
This is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 by Spencer Beebe and Peter Seligmann in Arlington, Virginia. Conservation International has helped over 1,000 areas and 612 million hectares of land, marine and coastal areas.
