    Connor played the majority of his minor hockey career playing for the York-Simcoe Express north of Toronto in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA). 2006 marked the last time that the Edmonton Oilers had made it to the post-season (8th seed).     McDavid attended the Premier Elite Athletes Collegiate School when he was 10 years old placing him the youngest of 52 students. He excelled as expected even though he was competing against boys 3-4 years older than him. He was trained by elite coach Joe Quinn whom had coached many other young prospect now seen in the NHL. This is exponential for McDavid's development as a player and a leader because of the exposure to a more mature opposition and a great coaching figure. (pg 9-10, klinkenberg)

    During his minor bantam year Connor had moved from the OMHA to the GTHL (Greater Toronto Hockey League) for three years. He continued to dominate during this time and in his minor midget year he accumulated 79 goals and 130 assists for 209 points in 88 games earning him the GTHL player of the year award.

    When Connor was 13 years old he was first noticed by Bobby Orr at a camp for the Marlboros. Bobby was astonished by his talent. Soon after, Bobby had tracked down the young star and made a meeting time with the family at the McDavid home. They happily allowed Bobby Orr's sports agency The Orr Hockey Group represent Connor. Former NHL'er and General Manager Jeff Jackson was appointed to be his agent at only 14 years old. (pg 10-11, Klinkenberg)

    Connor is the 3rd person to be granted 'Exceptional Player Status'
    As a 15 year old Connor was granted the opportunity to join the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) one year earlier than the official entry age. This made him the 3rd player in history to do so, behind Aaron Ekblad and John Tavares. This was a major point in McDavid's career as this once again gave him the chance to defy all odds and conquer stiff competition with his age at a disadvantage. (pg 11, Klinkenberg)

    At 15 years old the Erie Otters selected Connor McDavid with their 1st overall pick of the 2012 draft earning him the Jack Ferguson award. The pick that every other team in the league were drooling at the mouth for, despite Connor being the youngest player in the draft. This is very beneficial for McDavid's career as he adds another incredible accomplishment to his growing resume after being selected 1st overall by the Otters. (pg 11-12, Klinkenberg)

    2012-13 Season (Rookie):
    - Playing with line mate Connor Brown
    - 15 game point streak starting from his debut
    - Awarded rookie of the month (Nov, Oct)
    - Broke the record for assists and came 2nd for goals as a rookie in the OHL
    - Received the Emms Family Award as OHL rookie of the year and 2nd as CHL rookie of the year
    - Finished with 41 assists and 25 goals Connor made a huge name for himself taking the OHL by storm at only 15 years old.

    - Finished with 28 goals and 99 assists in 56 games
    - Finished 4th in points (12 games played less than top 3)
    - Awarded the William Hanley trophy for sportsmanship
    - The Bobby Smith trophy for the scholastic player of the year
    - The scholastic player of the year in the CHL
    - Named to the second OHL all star team McDavid continues to control the OHL in his second season wiithout falter. Teammates Connor Brown and Dane Fox received 1st and 2nd in points for the year.

    - Was leading OHL in points (16G, 35A, in 18GP) before breaking his hand in a fight on the ice against the steelheads

    - In 47 games McDavid accumulated 44 goals and 76 assist for 3rd in points
    - McDavid dominated the playoffs earning 49 points
    - Awarded the Wayne Gretzky 99 Trophy for playoff MVP despite losing to Sault Ste Marie in 5 games
    - Earned the Red Tilson Trophy and CHL player of the year

    Connor McDavid has finally reached his dream of becoming the 1st player selected in the 2015 NHL entry draft by the Edmonton Oilers. Not only that but he is the most highly anticipated player to enter the league since Sidney Crosby, or maybe more. On the night of the draft the entire city of Edmonton was buzzing with excitement as they have earned their chance for rejuvenation since McDavid was 9 and the last time the Oilers made the playoffs. The Edmonton Oilers had received a new favorite son.
