    The Mexican, American war was a conflict between the United States and Mexico. This war was sparked because of territorial disputes between the two countries. It ended with the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which resulted in Mexico ceding a significant amount of its territory to the United States.

The American army successfully won this battle, giving them a huge confidence boost.

    After the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, there were many disagreements regarding the specific boundary lines between the U.S and Mexico. To resolve these problems, the Gadsden Purchase was brought up to finally get more clarity and a clear border between the two countries. The Gadsden Purchase gave the U.S additional land from Mexico for around $10 million. This treaty also secured a route for railroad development that was used for trade and communication across the United States.

    The siege of Vicksburg occurred during the American civil war. It was a campaign west, where Union forces sieged the confederate city, Vicksburg, Mississippi. The victory for the Union gave the North Control of the Mississippi, splitting up the confederate into two and giving the Union dominance in the war.

    The battle of Gettysburg took place around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This was the known “turning point” of the war, resulting in a Union victory. This battle was the deadliest and led to a shift in momentum in favor of the union.

Lee engaged in many battles such as the battles of the Wilderness and Cold Harbor. Grants pressure on Lee’s army forced the confederates to fight in Petersburg, creating a turning point in the war in favor of the union.

    The Siege of Petersburg was a campaign in the civil war where union forces attempted to cut off supply lines for the Confederate city of Petersburg. Petersburg was a huge supply center for the confederates and was the Confederate Capital. This siege lasted for 9 months and ended in the fall of Petersburg, collapsing the confederacy and giving the union an advantage.

    The Appomattox Campaign was the final campaign of the war, leading to the surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s army to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. This surrender collapsed the confederacy and ended the American Civil War. It was one of the most significant events to happen in this War, giving the Union the victory.
