Yom Kippur War
Anwar Sadat prepares Egypt for war with Israel on Jewish holiday of atonement. Fighting lasts for 18 days.Results in Egypt gaining land along the Suez canal. -
Camp David Accords
Egyptian and Israeli leaders meet in Camp David with President Carter to discuss a peace treat. Egypt agrees to recognize Israel as an independent state and in return gets full control of the Sinai peninsula.
