The Begining
When Israel won its independence armies from Transjordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq invaded Israel. The war lasted only 7 months. The Israelis destroyed the armies of the other countries. -
The Six-Day War
In 1963, Egypt ordered the UN to remove troops from Israel. Israelis expecting and assault by the Egyptians, preemptively struck and attacked first. Israel won and claimed more land from their surrounding countries. -
War on Yom Kippur Day
Jordan and Egypt, who both wanted their land back, planned an attack on Israel. They attack on Yom Kippur a holy day in the Jewish faith. Because the Israelis were not prepared, they asked the U.S. to assist and had a cease fire after many weeks of fighting. -
Camp David Accords
The Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat, wanted to make peace with Israel. U.S. President Jimmy Carter invite the Israeli prime minister, Menchem Begin, and Anwar Sadat to do peace talks in Camp David, Maryland. After some time discussing, they made an agreement and 30 years of hostility ended between them. -
The Palestinian and Israeli Conflict Continues
Nationalism started to spread in Palestine. Because of it, the people of Palestine started attacking Israel in the streets. The tension between these countries have existed over the course of 70 years. In 2006 terrorist group Hamas started fighting with the Palestinian people against Israel killing many people.
