After WWll the UN partitions Palestines so that Israel can have their own Jewish State. Israel then declares independence as British mandate ends. -
Arab-Israeli War
The Arab-Israeli conflict began in 1948 and has continued throughout the years. It took place in 1967, and again in 1973. After 6 years of the 1973 war Egypt and Israel and come agreement and got peace, however there was still unrest among the Palestinian Arabs for many years to come. -
Six-Day War
In 1967 Egypt demanded that the UN remove its troops from Gaza and the Sinai Peninsula. After refusing the Egyptians moved troops into Sinai, and Israel became involved when launching air attacks against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan that destroyed most of their planes. Which allowed Israel to take control of of Golan heights, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank and East Jerusalem. -
Yom Kippur War
After losing a lot of territory Egypt and Syria Launched a surprise attack that caused the Yom Kippur War. At first the Arab troops were able to make huge gains in the war, however Israel's government was not prepared and with the help of the U.S support they were able to push back Egyptian and Syrian armies and after weeks of fighting both sides agreed to a cease-fire. -
The Intifada
As tensions built up in West Bank and Gaza, when Israel began to build settlements there, we see the Palestinian resentment boil over and cause a rebellion. During this rebellion we saw Palestinian youth battle israeli troops in a show of widespread street violence.
