The 6 day war
In a counter attact against Egypt, a short war begain, lasting only six days. Israel use air stikes to weaken their opposition then invaded on groun, taking Golan Hights, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem. -
Yom Kippur War
Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a coordinated attack against Israel on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Egyptian troops swept deep into the Sinai Peninsula,Syria struggled to throw occupying Israeli troops out. Israel counterattacked and recaptured the Golan Heights. A cease-fire went into effect on October 25, 1973. -
Camp David Accords
Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin decided it was time for peace. They got together in Camp David, Maryland, U.S.A. and signed a treaty that had Israel return the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and had Egypt recognize Israel as a country. -
Intifada
Tis was a rebelion that was caused by the Israeli occupation of West Bank and Gaza. Violence consumed the streets, civilians attacking each other, the military and police being forced to respond. -
The 2nd Intifada
Before peace could be achieved from the first intifada, suicide bombings and killings began, causing tension between Palestine and Israel. The second intifada began, this time the civilians were backed up by Palestinian forces and suicide bombers attacked civilians in Israel, Israel responded by sending troops supported by tanks, fighter jets and helicopter gunships.
