The Beginning
The day the armies of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq invaded the British Mandate was the beginning of the Arab-Israeli War. Israel controlled most of the Mandate Palestine and so they defended their land from the Arab nations. -
Armistice Agreement
The war ended when Israel and the Arab nations signed the Armistice Agreement. This stopped the Arab nation's attacks on Israel's territory. -
The Canal
In Egypt, the Suez Canal Company closed the canal to Israeli. Their shipments were not allowed through this short-cut so they would have to take the long way in order to get their ships where they need to be. -
The Invasion
Israel's response to the closing of the canal was to invade the Sinai Peninsula. Israel captured the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula. -
The Attack
Israel launched a surprise attack on Egypt. The Israeli Air Force destroyed most of the Egyptian Air Force. This event was Israel's victory in the Six-Day War.
