9 Weeks

Synapses start to form just a few weeks (3-4) after conception. During fetal growth and brain development a critical rapid growth occurs when in that time nearly 40,000 synapses are made per second, this continues to grow until nearly two years old. -
3 months
Nutrition is crucial for brain development. At 6 months infants are now able to think on their own and start to develop there problem solving skills. As well as they will start to shoe more cognitive behavior related to curiosity about the surroundings. -
8 months
Around this time toddlers start speak, however they do not form actual sentences in about 4 more months they will start sayings words. But also rather then saying words they are now able to mimic sounds and things that they hear from there wonders. -
12 Months
At 12 months also know as 1 year is when the baby/child has alot more functional skills and can opperate in more of a human way. As said earlier the cognitive aspects of the brain as well as all aspects will continue to develop as the child gets older. -
18 Months
After approximately 18 months of age, no more neurons are added. Also the aggregation of cell types into distinct locations is some what complete. But the pruning of excess connections is clearly a process that is crucial for the shape of the mature brain so it continues for years. -
24 Months
By age 2 the majority of brain development has stated and what was done before birth up until now set the foundation for the future of the brain development. -
