They communicated through telephone, radio, mail, and newspapers. They were much earlier versions of technology we use today. People also met face-to-face over sending a letter. -

In the Silent Generation most of the knowledge people gained was through scientific research in nuclear weaponry and new guns. Libraries rarely used in this time. -

Baby Boomer Generation
This generation was called the Baby boomer Generation because the people in this generation were happy and had to repopulate the Earth after all the deaths from the wars and famine. -

Communication in the Baby Boomer Generation
They used landlines and sent letters mainly. Though Morse code letters were an option, they were mainly used by the military. Meeting face-to-face was still a more popular option. -
Gaining knowledge in the baby Boomer Generation
Most of the knowledge gained in the generation was through scientific research as well, but not about weapons. Most of it was getting new material for construction of new buildings, house, and technology. Libraries become relevant again and people begin to use them again. -

In Generation X the people were considered "lost" and had no idea what to do. This generation had the lowest voting rates and the highest amount of children with 1 or no parents. Despite this, it had some of the highest graduation rates. -

Communication in Generation X
Generation X used rotary and button landlines, today's equivalent of a fax machine called a teletype, and some telephones made specifically for hospitals. People would still meet face-to-face. -

Most of the knowledge gained in this generation was about new technology to improve daily life. Libraries contain most books on specific subjects and are used for research. -

Generation Y people are generally viewed as some of the smartest people around. They are less susceptible to being loyal to brands and did more of what was better for them. -

People started owning household computers that could instant message, smaller handheld phones, landlines, e-mail, yet people still met face-to-face a lot of the time. -

The knowledge gained in this generation was about computers and more technology that could help us access large amounts of information from our homes. -

Generation Z
Generation Z is the most recent generation with the highest diversity. People are growing up with technology and many different types of people around them. The Generation Z people haven't fully grown, nor has the generation ended yet, but this generation is expected to be the most tolerable. -

Communication in Generation Z
People in this generation text others more often than talking face-to-face, even when they are in the same house. They use their phones and computers to text, facetime, and video chat. They most often meet each other only in school or at the mall. -
Gaining knowledge in Generation Z
In this generation, knowledge is gained from reading online scholarly articles, libraries are still relevant but mostly used for pleasure reading. -
Online Generation
In this generation, everything will be online. People will communicate online, work online, learn online, etc. All the children are going to be using technology since their early years and all the older people are going to be developing more efficient and better technology. People will be gaining more knowledge through high level research using advanced equipment.
