  • Info Storage

The first digital electronic computer in the United States, is designed by Atanasoff and Clifford Berry, his doctoral student. With this, a computer may now store data in its main memory for the first time and execute a single operation every 15 seconds.
  • Automatic

The Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator is the creation of John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert, two academics at the University of Pennsylvania. It is the first general-purpose, electronic, digital computer that is automatic.
  • Transistor

The transistor is invented by Walter Brattain, John Bardeen, and William Shockley of Bell Laboratories. They discover how to create an electric switch using solid items and without the need of a vacuum.
  • Computer Chip

Robert Noyce and Jack Kilby introduce the integrated circuit, popularly referred to as the computer chip. Kilby's efforts would win him the Nobel Prize in Physics.
  • Floppy Disks

The "floppy disc," created by a group of IBM engineers under the direction of Alan Shugart, allows data to be transferred between several computers.
  • The Laptop

The National Museum of American History states that the first personal computer with a graphical user interface (GUI) was the Apple Lisa, which stands for "Local Integrated Software Architecture" The device also has icons and a drop-down menu. This year also is the arrival of the Gavilan SC, the first flip-form portable computer to be used as a laptop
  • Quantum Computers

By building a quantum computer that could theoretically beat the most potent classical computer, a Google team became the first to establish quantum supremacy, but only for a very narrow set of problems with no real-world applications.
