  • The Original Idea

    Sometime in the 1970s, Hayes Noel, a stockbroker, and Charles Gaines, a writer, and sportsman, were arguing about who had the better survival skills. A friend of Gaines showed them the Nelson Paint Company's paintball marker, Intended for use by foresters to mark trees. The paintball marker which would be intended to cut down, and by ranchers to mark cattle, Gaines and Noel decided to test out one of the guns, loaded with small oil paint-filled pellets, in a mock duel.

    Charles Nelson went to a company called the Crosman company to produce a marker gun that would shoot paintballs and they developed the Crosman 707. After a few years of poor sales, Crosman stopped the production, since they felt it was not a financially viable gun.
  • The New Paintball Pistol

    Eventually, Charles Nelson then spoke with Daisy, the airgun manufacturer, to produce a new paintball pistol marker. Daisy created the Daisy Splotchmarker in 1972, which eventually became known as the famous Nel-Spot 007. The encapsulated, oil-based paintballs for the Nel-Spot 007 marker was mass produced by RP Sherer
  • National Survival Game

    The game caught public attention and therefore the National Survival Game company was created for recreational purposes.
  • FIRST PAINTBALL COMPETITION

    The first game of paintball was played in Sutton, New Hampshire. The game which was played was called capture the flag. 12 men got together to play the game. Which was known as the first paintball game. After this game happened the it coaght the eye of sports media.
  • Present Day

    Ever since those days, the sport of paintball has been played for fun and for professionally. Being aired on tv ESPN for years and paintball markers being constantly being made. Paintball is also a multi-million dollar industry.
