Windows 95
Developed by Microsoft, windows 95 was lunched on August 24th. The system was received with great popularity by the consumer base and is considered one of the most anticipated product launches in American business history. This is largely due to the promotion of the product, which had the most massive media campaigns in the history of computing. Over one million units were sold in the first four days it was released and by 1997 Windows 95 was the most installed operating system globally. -

Machine Beats Man
In a game of chess, AI computer named "Deep Blue" beats world champion Garry Kasparov. The IBM computer was developed by a team of researchers led by Feng-hsiung Hsu and Murray Campbell at Carnegie Melon. This is a huge win for AI researchers as it inched the margin of capability closer to human like intelligence. At one point after the match, deep blue was even accused of having human intervention that caused the win! -
Wi-Fi
While the beginnings of Wi-Fi connectivity go back to the seventies, and the first version was released in 1997, it did not receive its official name until 1999. Before then, the short-range radio networking standard went by "IEEE 802.11b". This is also the year apple first introduced airport Wi-Fi routers and installed Wi-Fi capability into MacBook. These advancements have helped popularize and solidify wireless connectivity in our society today.
