Willhelm Shickard designs the first known mechanical calculator, the 'Calculating Clock' to multiply large numbers. This is the first step toward computers. -

Konrade Zuse creates the Z1 computer, a binary number computer using punch tape. This is the first real computer. -
ARPA-Net is launched
ARPA-Net is the first internet, set up by the U.S. Department of Defense. This is a major step towards the world wide web like we have now. -
First video game
Pong, the first video game ever, is created by Nolan Bushwell. This makes Nolan Bushwell the father of video games. Without this, we may not have video games now. -
First pocket calculator
Texas Instruments releases the first pocket calculator. This is the first calculator of the kind we know today. -
First Laptop Computer
The Osborne 1, the first laptop, is released. This made computer much more portable and more convient to use. -
World Wide Web is launched
The world wide web is launched to the public. This makes it possible for me to be taking online classes, search on online dictionaries, and use this website. -
Google is founded
Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in 1998. This is, in my opinion, the best search engine on the internet. -
iPad comes out
The iPad came out 2010. This is a step for handheld computer, and it keeps moving forward and getting better.
