    Inspired by David Thompson, Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina created NCSA Mosaic in 1993, one of the first web browsers. With integration of multimedia like text and graphics, Mosaic was significant to popularizing the World Wide Web and the general internet. The availability and intuitive interface of Mosaic piloted the burst of popularity of the Web, from only twenty-six websites in the world at the end of 1992, to millions by 1998.

    Sony first released the PlayStation on the 3 December 1994 in Japan. The North American release date was 9 September 1995. The PlayStation's primary competitors were the Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn, and was the first computer entertainment platform to ship over 100 million units. It was the pioneer of the gaming industry's transition from cartridges to compact discs.

    Hotmail commercially launched
    Founded by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith, Hotmail was one of the first webmail services on the Internet. In 1997, it was sold to Microsoft when it had over eight million subscribers. After localizing Hotmail for different markets globally, it became the world's largest webmail service with over 30 million active members in 1999. Hotmail has since been relaunched as Microsoft's Outlook service in 2012.
