COMPUTER HISTORY

  • THE FIRST ELECTROMECHANICAL COMPUTER

    THE FIRST ELECTROMECHANICAL COMPUTER
With the arrival of the second world war, the need to design machines capable of executing ballistic calculations with speed and precision to be used in the war industry was raised. With that came the first electromechanical computer that was built by Harvard University, it was named MARK 1, it was controlled by programs and it used the decimal system
  • ENIAC

    ENIAC
Jhon W. Mauchly and J. Prester Eckert Jr, along with scientists from the University of Pennsylvania, built the first electronic computer called Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator
  • CIA

    CIA
Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, pioneers in the history of the computer, founded the CIA, this with the aim of manufacturing machines based on their experiences such as ENIAC and EDVAC
  • MANCHESTER MARK 1

    MANCHESTER MARK 1
It was developed at the University of Manchester. This computer is also called Manchester Automatic Digital Machine or MADM.
The work began in August 1948 and the first operational version was presented in April 1949.
  • EDVAC

    EDVAC
EDVAC, was one of the first electronic computers. Unlike ENIAC, it was not decimal, but binary, and had the first program designed to be stored. The question of storing the instructions that would work with the entered data in a separate memory became an architectural standard for most modern computers.
The EDVAC design was developed even before the ENIAC, they began to develop it in 1944, but it was not ready until 1949 and it was launched until 1961.
  • FERRANTI MARK 1

    FERRANTI MARK 1
In the late 1950s the Manchester Mark 1 was dismantled and replaced in February 1951 by the first installation of the Ferranti Mark 1
  • UNIVAC

    UNIVAC
The first commercial computer is invented, called UNIVAC, attributed to John Presper Eckert and John William Mauchly, responsible for its predecessor ENIAC, and they were built by the Remington Rand company. Its launch was in 1951 but they were not the first, since the British were ahead of them for just over a month launching their Ferranti Mark 1.
  • IBM 701

    IBM 701
The International Business Machines launches its first commercialized brand computer
  • TRADIC

    TRADIC
It was the first transistorized computer, having approximately 800 transistors, allowing it to work with less than 100 watts of power consumption
  • PDA

    PDA
The University of Illinois develops a graphical interface for Internet browsing, called NCSA Mosaic, thus being a personal digital assistant
  • CURRENT COMPUTERS

    CURRENT COMPUTERS
Currently, computers are used by most people, being the most common, these have evolved over time, since some have gone from being very large to being laptops
