Trench Warfare and the Treaty of Versailles
The trench warfare soilders would dig deep holes in the ground for cover in the war. They were often cut down by enemy machine fire gun. Guns and poision made this war even more deadly. Many civilizations were killed and more than 8 million people died.
In 1918, Central Powers surrender. Germany and Austria Hungary, the central powers had to accept punishments in the Treaty of Versailles. -
Overthrowing Tzar Nicholas
The Tzars of Russia ruled rapidly. The hardships of World War 1 made it hard. In 1917 a revoultion went up against Nicholas II to give up the throne. Later, Lenin took power. -
Rise Of Communism and Joseph Stalin
In 1917, revolution forced Nicholas II, the tsar to give up the throne, not as Tzar, but as communist goverment in Russia. Communism in Russia helped become friends with Germany. Russian Empire was renamed in 1922 Union of Soviet Socialist Republicans, Known as the USSR -
The Roaring Twenties
The econmy grew rapidly. Most of the people enjoyed the great wealth and people also bought new things and inventions. Such as, new electronics and appliances. A new kind of music came out and it was called Jazz. The United States was richer than any other country had ever been. -
The Great Deprission
The Great Deprission was a worldwide economic downfall in the 1930s. The economy was so bad 1/4 of America couldn't find jobs. Many traveled the country despratly looking for jobs. Millions of people were homless and didn't have enough to eat. America and all other countries were in downfall. This led up to another war in 1939 -
America durning the Depression
The worldwide turn down in the 1930s. In 1929 the stock market chrashed. The econmy was so weak that one out of four Americans were jobless. People would jump on trains looking for a job, and often get injured. Men would eat at soup kitchens. The people were so desperate they would do anything. -
Roosevelt's New Deal
The new deal was developed by FDR because he wanted to end the Great Depression. It helped economy and more people had jobs, but it was a short term relief. -
The Holocaust
The Nazis where one of the worst in World War II. They tried to destrou most religious groups mostly the Jews. They sent them to concentration camps. In the camps people worked until death, were tortured, or killed. They killed about 6 million Jews. -
World War 2
A political leader named Adolf Hitler took advantage of Germany. He lead the organization called the Nazi Party. Hitler became the dictator of Germany. Hitler also took charge of lands t that boarded Germany and promised to make them great again. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan and Italy sided with Germany. In 1941, Japan attacked American forces at Pearl Harbor, drew the United States to go into war. (Siding with the Allie Powers) Hitler also invaded the Soviet Union. Which made them side with the Allie Powers as well. -
Atomic Bombs
The atomic bombs were the most deadly weapon in the war. One bomb could destroy a whole city. Over 100,000 people were killed by the atomic bombs. The Japenese surrendered because of the deadly atomic bombs -
The Cold War
The United States and the Soviet Union had different economies and governments. The Soviet Union was a Communist Party and the United States was a Capililst country. Beginning in 1945, the Soviet Union took control of Eastern Eouropean countries. The Soviet Union wanted to expand its inflluences and its communism all over the world. -
North Korea
North Korea invaded South Korea. They were democrats, not communists. During the Korean War all the Democratic countries sent out troops to support South Korea. The war ended in 1953. -
Vietnam
In southeast Asia, Vietnam had split into two. Communist North Vietnam and non communist South Vietnam. In the 1960s the United States sent troups into South Vietnam to support them. The two halves had a war and North Vietnam defated South Vietnam. Leaving the whole country communist. -
The end of the Cold War
The cold war ended in 1991, when communist rule collapsed in the Soviet Union. Most of eastern Europe did'nt use a communist goverment in 1989. Communism ended because east Europeans and Soviet citizens wanted it reformed
