  • The Blue Jackets played their first ever regular season game on October 7, 2000, a 5-3 loss against the Chicago Blackhawks. That game started the Blue Jackets with a 0-1 record in their franchise.

  • On April 8, 2009, the Columbus Blue Jackets had secured the first Stanley Cup playoff birth in the franchises eight year history. In the first round they played the Pittsburgh Penguins and were eliminated.

  • In the 2012 off season the Blue Jackets traded their captain Rick Nash who was a big part in the Blue Jackets organization. He was also the captain and the cities favorite player.

  • In 2015 the Blue Jackets named Nick Foligno the sixth captain in the franchises history. They named him captain because he was a hard worker, a leader and did what he was told to do.

  • In 2015 the Blue Jackets fired coach Tod Richards and signed coach John Tortorella. They fired coach Richards because they were not playing very well and wanted a new coach.

  • In 2018 the Blue Jackets made their 5th playoff appearance in the history of the franchise. They played against the Washington Capitals but sadly lost in the first round.
