Jewish refugees arrive in Savannah
Jewish refugees arrive in Savannah. They are allowed to settle because their group included a doctor. The only doctor that the colonists had died a couple of weeks earlier. -
Malcontents constantly complain
As early as 1734, a group of colonists began to complain about the rules of the trustees. The rules that they disagreed with the most were the ones that stated No lawyers, No liquor, No Catholics, No slaves, and limits on land ownership. This group eventually led to the trustees giving control of Georgia back to King George II. -
Salzburgers Arrive in Georgia
German immigrants fleeing religious persecution. They create the town Ebenezer but have to move due to bad water. They build New Ebenezer. They are anti-slavery and they are the only group that made silk profitable. -
Highland Scots building the town of Darien.
Darien is located at the mouth of the Altamaha River and created Fort King George. This was the Southern most town in GA. -
War of Jenkins Ear
War between Spanish and Great Britain over Trade routes. -
Battle of Bloody Marsh
The Spanish tried to sneak up on the Highland Scots at Ft. Fredericka. The Highland Scots ambushed them and drove them back to Florida. This was the last time that the Spanish invaded GA. -
Trustee Period ends
The trustees grew tired of the constant complaining out of the malcontents. They returned control of the GA colony to King George in 1752. Georgia is Now a Royal Colony. -
