Captain cook was in Tahiti to view the Venus eclipse on June the 3rd. then Captain James Cook was instructed to find the Great South Land. He landed in Botany bay. When he landed they originally named the place Stingray Bay but it was renamed to Botany bay because of the many plants his botanists collected and recorded. Cook saw what he thought was just another cove a few miles north and named it Port Jackson. (Sydney Harbor)

I was writing in my diary when Lieutenant Zachary Hicks yelled, LAND! I was very confused because Van Diemen's land was meant to be further south. We sailed up the coast on the 28th and dropped the anchor. We had found land, Huzzah!

Years later Governors were set up to control the colonies. As more colonies came to Australia, more aboriginals died because of the British people.
    Why?
TRADE-The British wanted to be closer to the main trading areas to get trade easy
JAILS- In Britain there were hardly any room for prisoners
AMERICAN INDEPENDANCE- In Britain there were no spaces in jail since America gained independence.
EMPIRE- The British empire didn’t want the Dutch or french to find the great south land before the British.

My name is Bennelong. I am 24. Today was a scary and confusing day. 1500 people came. But these people had fairly white skin. They just ran on to our land and claimed it their own. Their chief wanted to learn more about the people of the Wangal clan (my clan). But one day the members of their clan kidnapped one of us. Not just one of us, my best friend Arabanoo. He soon died after catching a disease from them. 7 months had passed and the grimm chief ordered to kidnap more of us.

All of the colonies met and decided it would be a great idea to form as a nation. They proposed changes and finally agreed. The Western Australian colony didn’t initially want to join as a nation. One person from each state decided to travel to britain to make australia one by getting the queen to sign a contract to make it a law. The Queen signed the document and became a law. It was made a law in 1900. Australia became a Federation on the 1st of January 1901.

I was having a lovely day. A very calm day actually. I was in the middle of lunch when I heard the door. It was those boys that called up on the telephone yesterday, blabbing on about the western Australian colony not accepting Australia forming as a federation. When the boys came they asked me to sign a document with all of these laws for Australia. I read all of the rules. I finally signed it. Australia is now one Federation!

My name is David and I am a normal Australian. Last year was the best year because it was the year of the ashes. I was in tune and I even went to the MCG to watch a match. My favourite spread on toast on bread is definitely Vegemite. I live in Melbourne and it doesn't get all that hot down here. It actually can get to zero degrees down here. And I love tea!
