Charles II gave eight loyal supporters the land that would be divided into three districts. One would later become South Carolina. -
South Carolina
SC was led by Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 1st Earl of Shaftesbury after being granted the land by Charles II. -
New York
New York was conquered by the English in 1664 from the Dutch without fight. It was brought into the colonies under English rule. -
