    A written order issed by a court. Court orders that allowed officials to make searches without saying for what they are searching for.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    It boosted parlimentary power. Parliment dethroned King James II. Then invited his daughter Mary and her husband William.This was called the Glorious Revolution. The king and queen signed the English Bill of Rights. It restated many of the rights from the Magna Carta, such as trial by jury. it made a right called habeas corpus which made a personcannot be held in prison without being charged with a specific crime.

    Virginia militia leader was George Washington led soldiers to Ohio River valley to order French to leave. Washington left back to Virginia to tell the governor that the French rejected his warning. A year later Washington was sent west to build a fort. Washington was too late French was already there. he then later attacked a small French forve then a larger army arrived and he had to surrender.

    The Sugar Act put import taxes onseveral products like moasses. Merchants in the colonies protested and smuggled in items. There was great punishment for the smugglers.

    The Quartering Act was made to save money. Britain left about 10,000 soldiers in the colonies. The act made colonists to house british soldiers and provide them with food and clothes. It made the colonist protest angrily.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The colonists boycott hurt British merchants and manufacturers, and put pressure on Parliment. March 5, Parliment repealed townshend duties except the one on tea. In Boston agry crowds of workers and sailors surrounded a small group of soldiers, they threw snowballs and rocks. The soldiers scared shot into the crowd killinf five and wounding six. Two of the soldiers got caught for the crime and got their fingers branded.

    A group of colonists called Sons of Liberty organized in port cities to stop the East India Company tea from being unloaded. they threatened ships who were bringing tea, and colonial tea merchants. So they dressed as Native Americans and threw 342 cases of tea into the harbor, they desrtoyed 90,000 pounds of tea.

    The colonists had Bunker Hill near Charles Town. The americans surrounded Boston. They were farmers and workers not soldiers. British General William Howe attacked up the hill. Americans didnt have much ammo. But the British attack failed. So did the second attack and they succeeded only because Americans ran out of ammo.

    The first document that was made. It states their natural rights, list of grievences, and the resolution. It was saying how they should be free. Wrote by Thomas Jefferson and some minor changes from Benjamin Franklin and John Adams.

    Washington's army had to fight through the winter. The 11,000 men werent properly clothed, fed, or housed. Most of them didnt have socks, shoes, and trousers. Women collected food clothes for them.

    The Confederation made government have one branch. It was a one-house legislature.There was no system of courts. All states had one vote. Nine out of the thirteen states had to agree beforea law could go into effect. It also limited government powers. Congress could not regulate trade or collect taxes.

    An agreement between Britain and colonies. The colonist had to give the loyalist's rights back and property taken. Britain gave the colonist's their freedom andhad boudaries. The boudaries were set on the Alantic on the east, Canada on the north, the Mississippi River on the west, and Florida on the south, but Florida was returned to Spain.

    A severe economic depression hit the states. The depression hit farmers in Massachusits hard. Daniel Shays led an group of about 1,000 farmers. When farmers tried to sieze arms from a state warehouse. Shays and out leaders were arrested. They believed that a stronger central government would protect against popular unrest. They noticed it was a good idea so they changed it.

    The Bill of Rights was passed by congress. Farmers provided a way to make the Constitution easy enough to change. The Congress passed 10 amendments. The first guarantees freedom of religion, speech, and the press. The second one deals with the right to bear arms. The third one is quartering of soldiers. Fourth protects citizens from unreasonable search. five to eight protect citizens who are accused of crimes and took to trial. The ninth and tenth limit the powers of the government.
