The Charter of Georgia
The charter of Georgia prohibited trustees from holding any formal office in the colony. The reasons for settlement stated in the charter include charity, economics, and defense. -
Salzburgers from Ebenezer
This group of German-speaking settlers arrived in Savannah because back home they were persecuted for their religious beliefs. They had fled to England where the trustees raised funds to send them to Georgia. Oglethorpe then gave them some land in Georgia and they named it Ebenezer, but it was not near any rivers and the soil wasn't good for agriculture. They went to Oglethorpe and asked him for different land that they decided to name New Ebenezer. -

John Reynolds
John Reynolds was not a very good Royal Governor. He ruled like a military officer and did not allow self rights. -

After the 21 Trustees gave up on Georgia, they handed it off to the King. He decided he would find some Royal Governors to help take care of this abandoned colony. -

First Newspaper
Georgia's first newspaper, GEORGIA GAZETTE, was established. -
Georgia Boundaries
Georgia's southern boundary defined, New colonies of East and West Florida created. -
Stamp Act
American colonies protest Stamp Act; Georgia was the only colony that was okay with it. -
End of Royal Period
Royal government in Georgia loses power and the American Revolution begins.
