Colonial Trade
England wanted their people to buy their goods. For this reason, England made a law saying it was illegal to manufacture goods. For example, it was illegal for people to make socks, tools, and horseshoes. English trade laws called the Navigation Arts, listed items the people could only sell to England or its colonies. These included farm products like sugar, tobacco, wood, cotton, wool, and indigo. -

Pennsylvania is Made
King Charles ll decided to give William Penn land in the new world that was southwest of New Jersey. He did this because the king owned William's father a loan. William was going to name his land 'Slyvania,' meaning woods, but he changed it to Pennsylvania. In his land he guaranteed free and fair trial by jury, freedom from unjust imprisonments, and freedom of religion and elections. This brought many people to his land. -

Slavery
Africans did many kinds of work in the 1770s. Most people were shipped over on boats. Some skilled workers were blacksmiths, carpenters, cooks, and weavers. Others worked in the field. By 1720 more than half of New York (the place where slaves were most popular) was enslaved Africans. -
The French and Indian War
British colonies had many disagreements when they claimed some French land near the Ohio River Valley. This lead to the Indian war. The British lost sadly, and over 900 British troops were killed. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) -
Burgoyne Attack!!
On October 1777 British General Burgoyne orders an attack on Bemis Heights near Saratoga and is defeted.
