    Jacques Cartier Left france by boat.
    - April 1534 King ordered him find golds, spices, & water passage to Asia.
    - June 9 sailed waters of the St. Lawarence river. in east canada
    -Was unable to find passage to asia .
    -Sailed with 61 men, went up north st lawarnce river to prince edward island.
    -Made contact with iriqouise indians.
    - The tribe's chief, Donnacona, let two of his sons, Taignoagny and Domagaya, Let sons go back to france only if they could return home.

    -De soto first served in Panama -April 1538 sailed to Canary islands and bought a ship. -Overseer was working them so hard, some commited suicide.
    • May 25 sent to the penisula known as tampa.
    -213 horses put on shore. -Natives homes were took over
