    Roanoke is the lost settlement and first settlement attempted by the British. First settled by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1585. Roanoke is still Roanoke but known mostly for being the first attempt on American soil.

They end up surviving the first winter because God gave them Squanto. William Bradford became the first governor of Plymouth and they are the reason we celebrate Thanksgiving today
